In this part the instructor devotes time to explain some options and items in Set-up under Property. At first, he starts with calculation options and elucidate each option; then he moves on to Comp-group and states its definition and its usage. Finally, he explains how a new unit set could be created.

In this part he provides a simple example to familiarize learners with the procedure of simulation of general processes in Aspen Plus. He defines water as the component and select STEAMNBS as the property method. To familiarize learners with the procedure of property method selection, he goes through the criteria stated in the document and provides the learners with definition and usage of each property method. He also explores another example to see how method assistant works and how it can help process engineer to narrow-down their searches for finding a suitable property method.

Now in order to familiarize the learners with Petroleum Assay Characterization in Aspen Plus, he defines a crude oil assay with TBP distillation curve and composition of end lights. He selects crude fractionation template from Aspen Plus and proceeds with Grayson. Subsequently he shows how TBP distillation curve and light-ends could be defined in Aspen Plus. Finally, the set of pseudo components is generated after running the simulation.

In this part the trainer describes a new problem concerning polymerization process. To help learners better understand the procedure of setting up property for polymer applications, he at first defines some terms about polymerization process, then he defines components with different types. Subsequently he shows the route to specify some experimental data such as freezing point or normal boiling point in Aspen Plus to enhance the accuracy of Aspen Plus estimation.
