Determination of Design Pressure and Design Temperature
1. Having basic knowledge of Excelsheet.
2. Having Basic Knowledge in process and mechanical design
3. Having a desire
In this part the instructor presents the design criteria for design pressure determination for piping;then he gives practical examples to help fellow process engineers better understand how to utilize the criteria for a specific application.
Overview
Design Pressures
The design pressure is the maximum and/or minimum pressure for which the mechanical calculation shall be performed. The set pressure of the relief valve must be lower than or equal to the design pressure of equipment. For vacuum rating designation, pressure shall be shown as external. The maximum operating pressure is defined as the maximum pressure which occurs during normal modes of operation, including start-up and shutdown, and should take full account of any hydrostatic head, and other pressure drop across the item.
In this part the trainer details out the criteria for design pressure of different equipment such as pumps , Compressor, Heat Exchanger , Distillation Column, Control valves. To better understand the meaning of those sentences specified in Criteria the trainer provides real examples and oddly enough he showes how sometimes the criteria is ignored and practical procedure is taken.
In this minute you become familiar with design temperature criteria and how it could be used.
Overview
Design Temperatures
The design temperature is the value used for the mechanical design of equipment. In all cases, design temperatures of all equipment shall be quoted as Maximum design temperature /Minimum design temperature.
In this part you get to know different phenomena such as emergency depressurization or steam out for different equipment which should be taken into account during design temperature calculation.
