Enough is enough. We are just trained to read PFDs and P&ID developed by others and boast about it. You see, preparation and development of PFD and P&ID are just carried out based on some algorithm to which you do not have any access! EIEPD PFD and P&ID Development course provides you with all of these design notes for typical equipment from towers to pumps. More importantly you learn where to prepare P&ID pages: Auto-Cad P&ID. We guarantee your success if you follow our instructions closely.
Who should take the course?
1. Process engineers
2. Control room operators
3. Chemical engineers
4. Instrument engineers
5. Mechanical engineers
PFD Development
Session 1: Design criteria for PFD development
The instructor starts the session with the purpose of PFD issue, its format, and work procedure. Then he continues with general drafting instruction such as scales, types of lines, crossover, utility lines and flow directions. Then he shows how instrument and control system should be shown. In addition, you are taught how fixed equipment such as heat exchanger, air coolers, fired heaters, reactors, towers, and rotary equipment namely pumps, expanders, compressors and so on is shown on a PFD.
Session 2: Example of PFD development
In this session, the presenter provides learners with a comprehensive example. In this example you will learn the followings:
1. Developing the process sketch using EIEPD-STEPWISE Methodology
2. Vessel rule regarding vertical or horizontal
3. Air cooler rule T=65
4. Design notes for compressor
5. Pressure drops calculations and the need for compressor.
Now he introduces three steps of PFD development in a pragmatic way, first of which being the developed process sketch. The second step being inclusion legend, stream table, operating conditions, stream numbering and equipment tag. In third step, which equipment needs control loop and shows how to apply them on a real PFD.
Finally, he provides the PFD development check list and common mistakes by junior process engineers.
Auto-cad P&ID Intro
Session 3: Auto-cad P&ID Introduction
In this session you get to know how to define a new project, get familiar with Tool Pallete, project set-up and other miscellaneous features.
Session 4: Practice
In this session the trainer opens a page of P&ID of an existing plant which includes process lines, a separator with mist eliminator, heat exchanger, centrifugal pumps, air cooler, and valves. In this session you see and observe how he connects the lines (primary and secondary lines) to different equipment, draws a separator with its instrumentation, draws pumps with the piping around them, and draw control valves with their bypass assembly around them. He develops it from scratch to completion.
Session 5: Practice-Continued
This session is the follow-up of the previous session. In previous session you learned how to developed the P&ID page based on Auto-cad equipment icons. In this session you learn how to change icons based on your project P&ID equipment icons (for example you can’t find a separator with mist eliminator in Auto-cad but your project might have a lot of them, you learn how to add it. That is one example. In a technical perspective, you learn how to edit blocks. More importantly, you learn how to adjust and edit blocks from project set-up. You also learn how to export the file. Finally, you learn how to develop, import and export line list, equipment list and how to get various report out of Smart Auto-cad P&ID.
